Barb’s mandate is to strengthen Maxxam’s image and reputation across a diverse audience that includes customers and prospects in four major lines of business while simultaneously building Maxxam’s brand among employees and new recruits.  She is accountable for translating customer and employee insights into innovative, workable ideas. Barb skilfully balances the strategic and practical as she leads the corporate communications and line-of-business marketing communications teams through a period of dramatic change.

Prior to Maxxam, Barb held executive and management roles in marketing, branding, customer research and communications for major brands including BMO Financial Group, Moore Corporation, and Imperial Oil (Esso Petroleum). Barb has a B.A.Sc. in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo. With her unique combination of technical and marketing expertise, Barb is able to solve complex challenges and logically link issues and people to create solutions that are clear and easily understood by target audiences.
