Important Notice: CMM Regulation

Maxxam Analytics is pleased to announce that our St-Laurent laboratory is now accredited by the MDDEP for the majority of parameters outlined in Annex 1 of the new CMM regulation 2008-047.

As the only private laboratory currently accredited for testing related to the new regulation, we are the clear choice for analytical services in Montreal and surrounding regions, while minimizing the need to sub-contract and reducing delays in providing accurate and defensible results.

Please note that the deadline for submitting final reports to the given municipalities is 180 days following the initial characterization or October 27th, 2010. This transitional period is in effect until January 1st, 2012, after which time, affected parties will be responsible for adequately conforming to the criteria established by the regulation.

Maxxam would like to work with you to ensure that you and/or your client(s) meet this criteria and complete the necessary analyses within the prescribed timeline. Maxxam’s Food Science and Safety Services laboratory is moving in Montreal

Effective July 19, 2010, our Montreal Food Science and Safety Services laboratory will be moving to 7150 Rue Frederick Banting, Saint-Laurent. This facility is conveniently located within the Technoparc Saint-Laurent, just 12 min away from our current address: 889 Montée de Liesse, where our Environmental Services laboratory will remain.

Maxxam’s Burnaby Sample Reception is moving

Effective April 10th, 2010, all environmental samples are to be delivered to our Maxxam Burnaby location on Canada Way. During a transition week from April 5-9, while we move from Commerce Court to Canada Way, please check with your Project Manager to pre-schedule any rush work, order sample bottles or special requests. We also ask that you share this important announcement with all of your staff that currently does work with Maxxam.

Cantest, BC’s leading independent analytical laboratory, becomes Maxxam

MISSISSAUGA, ON, and BURNABY, BC, April 1, 2010 – On April 1, 2010, Cantest Ltd., BC’s leading environmental, food and pharmaceutical laboratory, will officially change its name to Maxxam Analytics.

The name change is the final step in a process that began with Maxxam’s acquisition of Cantest in 2009. The two companies have been integrating their operations, systems and services over the past months, focusing on creating a seamless transition experience for customers.

“The goal of this acquisition has always been to create a growth platform in British Columbia”, explains Maxxam President & CEO Jon Hantho. “We strongly believe in the importance of providing our clients with a complete service offering and a strong presence in the marketplace. I am also excited about the opportunities the merger of the two companies creates for our employees in BC.”

Maxxam Analytics raises $26,654 for Canadian Food Banks

Maxxam is pleased to announce that the staff and Company have raised a total of $26,654 for Food Banks across Canada through its annual holiday food drive.

The holiday food donation program has been an annual tradition at Maxxam for the past eight years. From November to December, the company’s 1800 employees make cash and food donations to support the less fortunate in their local communities. Maxxam then matches the donation dollars and kilograms of food collected.

“The Holiday food giving program is an important tradition at Maxxam,” said Jon Hantho, CEO. “It enables us to give something back to the communities in which we do business. I am thrilled by the participation of so many employees across the organization and grateful for their selfless support, especially during challenging economic times.

The Food Donation program is only one element of Maxxam’s community giving and fundraising program. The company supports a variety of causes by matching donations raised by its employees throughout the year. Currently, Maxxam employees across Canada are raising money for the earthquake victims in Haiti and Maxxam will match all donations.

Maxxam Analytics acquires Cantest

MISSISSAUGA, ON, and BURNABY, BC, October 19, 2009 – Maxxam Analytics International Corporation – an OMERS Private Equity portfolio company – announced today that it has acquired Burnaby, BC-based CANTEST Ltd., including its laboratory locations in Victoria and Winnipeg. CANTEST is British Columbia’s largest independent analytical laboratory business, specializing in environmental, food and pharmaceutical laboratory services. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
