Description:
Performs activities and analytical production work as required within the Product Testing division ensuring that study related operations are performed in compliance with applicable company and regulatory requirements and that only data that meets company and regulatory standards and requirements are released.
Key Accountability/Responsibilities:
Data analyses, report writing and assisting in the creation of reports as required.
Reviews data and performs data verifications as per SOPs and GxP requirements
Provides administrative support to the Supervisor and Manager whenever required.
Assists with final report processing and compiling reports and maintaining filing systems for projects
Ensures that project deadlines are not missed by the lab.
Performs analytical production work and other laboratory duties as directed and when needed
Assists with lab and business development.
Adheres to Maxxam Code of Ethics Policy.
Supports and complies with all Maxxam policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program.
Participates/performs, when requested in department and health and safety meetings.
Participates/performs, when requested in internal and external audits.
Keeps work area clean, neat and organized.
Maintains training records and relevant qualifications.
All other responsibilities as assigned.
Skills and Knowledge:
Science Technical Diploma or B.Sc. or equivalent.
Three years laboratory experience or familiarity with ICP-MS, ICP-OES and Trace Metals analysis as well as general laboratory processes and procedures
Strong science background and experience in laboratory practices.
Competent in reviewing analytical procedures and practices.
Experience working in a GLP, GMP, GXP environment.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills.
Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsible for performing sample analysis in accordance with departmental standard operating procedures and health and safety policies.
- Ensures a high level of accuracy in sample analysis.
- Prioritizes daily workload to accommodate daily rushes.
- Provides input to corrective action procedures.
- Ensures that instruments and equipment are appropriately maintained.
- Participates in developing SOPs and general work instructions.
- Provides training and guidance to more junior staff.
- Reviews LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work.
- Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when conducting analysis.
- Meets quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements
- Identifies and communicates non conformances to Supervisor
- Employs proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials
- Provides supervisor/manager with updates on workstation status including advance notification of any delays.

QUALIFICATIONS [Minimum Requirements]:
o Post secondary school education plus minimum 2 years of laboratory experience.
o Knowledge of extraction techniques (i.e. SPE, liq-liq extractions) and operation of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, especially with respect to liquid chromatography with mass spec detection.
o Demonstrated experience with LCMSMS instrumentation and analysis including method troubleshooting and development.
o Experience with food matrices will be strongly preferred.
o Positive outlook with a ability to work in a fast paced environment
