The Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) defines many of the requirements to manufacture or distribute new chemicals in Canada. The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) regulations include an assessment of the physical and chemical properties of a chemical or polymer using a series of tests defined by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). In the US, the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Prevention, Pesticides and Toxic Substances (OPPTS) has set guidelines with similar requirements.
Maxxam provides chemical testing utilizing either OECD or OPPTS methods in support of product registration and regulatory submission. When required, these services are offered in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). Maxxam also offers ecotoxicological (Eco-Tox) and eco-fate characterization of substances.
