Seafood Importers
Since 2006, the CFIA requires importers to verify the compliance of all imported product lots into Canada, through standard analyses according to their QMPI (quality management program for Importers) program:
- Drug residues and contaminants: amphenicols, tetracyclines, sulfonamides, nitrofurans, quinolones, Triphenyl methane dyes, Fluoroquinolones Erythromycin, emamectin, ivermectin, macrolides
- Heavy metals: mercury and others
- Chemistry: salt, nitrites, sulphites, histamine, moisture, phosphate, pH and water activity
- Microbiology
The laboratory also offers
- Pesticides and veterinary drug residues in meat, eggs, dairy, and honey
- Pesticide analysis in fresh produce and processed foods
- Drug residue testing in feed
- Food Nutrition labelling
- Environment contaminants in food (PAH, PFC, OC, OP, PCB)
- Pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCP) in water
- Effluent testing
- Contract Method development
