Preventing injury and ensuring the company sustains a safe work environment is paramount to Maxxam’s health and safety culture.
“With a brand new health and safety motto “it starts with me” in place and the opportunity to celebrate North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) week last month, Maxxam employees have renewed their responsibility to wear protective equipment, follow safe work procedures, look out for co-workers and ensure everybody goes home safe at the end of the day,” says Paul Fewer, National Director, Quality & Environmental Health and Safety,
Maxxam has added volunteers to their health and safety teams at each location. Their job will be to raise awareness, develop best practices, lead by example and promote accountability.
“Fewer employees are getting hurt, less claims have been received and an improved safety culture is well underway,” says Jon Hantho, President and CEO. “This is good news for staff and clients. To recognize champions who foster health, safety, and environmental success at the workplace, we have plans to present an “it starts with me” Safety Recognition Award during NAOSH Week 2012.
