Disaster relief and recovery efforts are underway to help hundreds of thousands of people whose lives have been forever changed because of the March 11th earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Maxxam is proud to be supporting these relief and recovery efforts by matching employee donations to the Canadian Red Cross—dollar for dollar.
The Canadian Red Cross Japan Earthquake/Asia-Pacific Tsunami fund is providing financial resources to the Japanese Red Cross to assist with emergency response efforts and to create a longer-term recovery plan.
Margaret Bailey, Vice President of Human Resources at Maxxam declared Maxxam’s commitment to this cause, “Our employees have friends and family affected by this terrible tragedy, and wanted to do what they could to help. They donated online and rallied for support through old-fashioned jar collections, bake sales, and other fundraising activities. Jointly we have raised over $15,000 towards emergency medical care, blankets, food and basic supplies”.
“Maxxam has a strong and proud history of giving back to communities in need”, says Jon Hantho, President and CEO. Our employees’ generosity was overwhelming which is why we decided to match their total donations and extend our corporate giving amount.”
