The Vancouver Canucks are runners up in this season’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, but champions in Canadian hockey. A team that has not been in the finals for 17 years, that fought hard to get where they are, and stayed strong with determination throughout the series. A team fiercely loved by their fans, especially their young fans at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.
Maxxam’s strong community and philanthropic spirit saw the Stanley Cup Playoffs as a tremendous opportunity to engage staff and clients to cheer on the Vancouver Canucks and to make a positive contribution to their charity of choice.
“It was a win win situation raising money for this important cause,” says Jon Hantho, President and CEO. “We can all feel proud that a $5,000 corporate gift, a commitment to donate $50 for each Canuck’s playoff goal and a pledge to match employee donations turned into a multitude of events for clients and staff (BBQs, charity auction, street hockey tournaments and more). Together we raised over $15,500 which will make a significant difference to the children and their families at Canuck Place.”
Congratulations to Rob Wilson of SNC Lavalin Environment Division who was the highest bidder for fourth round playoff tickets and Paul Farago of Golder Associates who was the highest bidder for the Vancouver Canucks Jersey signed by the team.
Thank you to everyone who supported this worthy cause. Our contributions will provide world-class health care for children living with a life-threatening illness and assist families in finding the courage and resources to cope.
Clients and staff who generously donated to this cause will be invited to join Maxxam at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice to present the cheque.
