Maxxam has joined more than 30 sponsors in supporting the International Year of Chemistry (IYC) 2011, a worldwide celebration of achievements in chemistry and its contribution to the well-being of humankind. Together, we strive to increase the awareness of and appreciation for chemistry by encouraging greater interest among young people, fostering innovative research and participating in national activities organized by the Chemical Institute of Canada.
“Our company inspires many of Canada’s brightest chemists by offering significant opportunities for professional growth, education, seminars and mentorship programs from top professionals in the field”, says Jon Hantho, President and CEO. “This sponsorship is an amazing opportunity to give back to the community and cultivate scientific innovation. Through collaboration with students and faculty we are able to develop ground-breaking solutions that enable our clients to make well-informed decisions that help them succeed in business.”
Maxxam intends to celebrate the International Year of Chemistry with staff, stakeholders and customers with a number of chemistry quizzes and activities over the coming months. Chemistry Week takes place the week of October 15-22 when the company will support IYC Global Water Experiments taking place in schools across the country and promote involvement at the Remediation Technologies Symposium (Remtech 2011).
