Animal DNA Accreditations
ISO 17025 – Maxxam’s Animal DNA laboratory has maintained accreditation with the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to the requirements of ISO 17025 since 2008. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) develops internationally recognized standards that provide requirements or guidelines that can be used consistently to ensure that products, processes and services are reliable. ISO 17025 refers to the international standard detailing the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
ICAR – Maxxam has successfully held accreditation for microsatellite based parentage testing in cattle with ICAR (International Committee for Animal Recording) since 2008.
ISAG – Maxxam has been an active member of the International Society for Animal Genetics (ISAG) since 2001. ISAG establishes internationally standardized DNA marker panels and guidelines for parentage verification in animals. Maxxam participates in the ISAG inter-laboratory comparison tests held every two years. Inter-laboratory comparison tests ensure that the DNA marker profiles generated at Maxxam follow ISAG nomenclature.
